The first ever 65's Central Ohio Senior Softball League commenced play Friday morning, September 21st, 2007, at McCord Park in Worthington.
The 65 and over league initiated its play with the popular "Texas Shootout" format.
The league began a seven week Fall season comprised of four teams and 56 players; play will resume in the Spring of 2008. The Berliner Sports complex will be the summer venue for the 65's league and it will move back to McCord park for 2008 "Fall Ball".
A "player draft" was employed to introduce as much team parity as possible to the league. Please visit the "Scores & Stats" page of this web-site to determine the equality of the four (4) teams competing.
Each team is comprised of fourteen (14) players. All players on the team roster who are present will be in the batting lineup and will have an equal opportunity for defensive play. The teams are comprised of twelve (12) defensive players in the field. There are no paid umpires and the catcher has the responsibility of calling balls, strikes and foul balls; the third base coach calls plays at second and third, and the first base coach calls plays at first and at home.
The 2007 "Fall" league will conclude on Friday October 26th and there will be a new player draft in the fall of 2008.
The 65 and over Spring/Summer league, playing at Berliner in the evenings, will begin in May.
